TRESH

TRESH is part of the bigger J6P program geared towards increasing participatory governance in WASH and WRM as well as mainstreaming crosscutting issues in WASH/WRM and promoting pro poor approaches that amplify the voices of the poor. The project aimed at improving the capacity of the duty bearers to enable them meet their obligation in order to respect, protect and fulfil rights of the right holders to responsibly claim them in the context of water resource management and service provision. The program targeted: PWDs, WRUAS, Water Utilities, CFAs, Government officials (County and National), Civil society organizations, Youth groups and Women groups

Key Outcomes

  • Improved governance of water utilities and Water Resource User Associations (WRUAs) in the respective areas of intervention
  • Meaningful public participation translating into participatory decision making
  • Amplified and elevated voices of the poor and marginalized groups in national development
  • Improved service delivery in WASH/WRM sector
  • Increased stakeholder and citizen involvement in WASH/ WRM

Key Results & Achievements

  • A comprehensive citizen version of the water act 2016 was developed for dissemination to the public
  • A framework to effectively ensure inclusion was discussed to ensure gender and social inclusion issues are embedded in plans
  • Improved accountability in the WASH/WRM sector, through the development and ensuring adherence to quality standards and citizens’ participation for improved service delivery
  • Elevating the voice of marginalized groups including women, youths and people living groups to ensure meaningful participation in county processes both at policy, operational and regulatory levels
  • Comprehensive public participation frameworks were developed, this was specific to each county due to the varying contexts
